Four Seasons Milan

Journey through Milan

Milan happens to be one of our favorite cities, not only for its wonderful cuisine and great shopping, but also for its art and architecture. The craftsmen and artisans who make our bags are located in a small, northern suburb of the city. We are not only lucky enough to work there, but we frequently visit and discover new things that make us want to visit more and more.

Here are just a few of them.

Evenings at Teatro alla Scala.                                                                                                                                       Always a wonderful experience especially if you are a fan of classical music and opera, you can’t help but be in awe of the opulent design and the fact that Callas, Caruso, and Pavarotti all performed there. There is a great scene in and around the surrounding piazza’s where you see so much of how the Milanese enjoy their city.

Breakfast at Bar Cova - Via Montenapoleone
Close to our showroom down the “via”, a corner spot that has been a constant destination for espresso, cappuccino and fine pastries. Have a look at the displays, decide what you want, pay at the cash register and then hustle your way to the crowded bar to be served. Sitting is strictly for tourists and lady’s in fur coats who have exhausted the shopping in the surrounding “Golden Rectangle” area.

Shopping at 10 Corso Como
As part of the Sozzani empire, this emporium is to the Italians, what Colette is to the French and Barney’s is to the Americans. Since 1990 this converted garage has been at the forefront of taste and style in Milan, showcasing designers, the latest books, an art gallery, a bar and most recently a B&B.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele
The oldest shopping mall in the world built in 1867 and home to brands such as Prada, Gucci and Armani to name a few. The structure is breathtaking and stones-throw from the D'Uomo. Bustling with smart Milanese most of whom are not visiting to shop or eat but to pay a visit to the mosaic bull in the floor.  It is said that spinning your heels on his testicles, brings luck.

Lunch at Paper Moon
The bustling, cramped restaurant has amazing pizza, salads and pasta, all made on the premises with strict adherence to the simple and outstanding quality school of thought. As you chomp down on your lunch you could catch site of Donatella or Della Valle. Order the puntarella salad (chicory tips with Anchovies), when in season.

Stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Milan
With each room individually designed, this converted 15th Century convent is built around a beautiful internal courtyard. This luxurious urban sanctuary can make you forget that you are in the heart of the “Golden rectangle” of Milan, eliminating the need for a car to drive you around for all that shopping, literally, just around the corner.

Enjoy your journey,
